I have always found myself wanting to help others. Whether in a grocery store reaching an item on a shelf for another customer (that request has been asked of me several times) or shopping at my favorite department store. While shopping, I noticed another customer holding a blouse, pondering if she should pair the blouse with a skirt that had a pattern she would not normally wear. I inserted my opinion into her decision making and she thanked me. She asked if I worked at the department store. Of course, the answer was “no.” For her to think that, I received it as a compliment.
Shopping for new clothes was always exciting (especially when I got a bargain). About 6 years ago, I begin to look at my shopping experience; not just for getting a bargain but how I could give style to the pants, blouse, or skirt I just purchased? What I also realized is during my years of teaching students in grade Kindergarten through 3rd grade, I not only look forward to educating the students, but I also look forward to getting up each day and planning my outfit for work.  At work, I received compliments on my personal style on a daily basis. I often got questions from my co-workers about style suggestions and tips because "YOU LOOK GOOD EVERDAY," is what they said. I would give my co-workers suggestions and style advise. When I complimented them on what they were wearing, the response was, "Really, you like this." I remember what you told me about styling this blouse with these pants or adding these accessories to this look. I thought to myself, wow, they value my opinion and trust my style advice. Then I begin to think, how can I incorporate my love for teaching, styling and helping others?  That is when I decided that I want to become a Style Advisor.
